Rishabh Pant’s stump mic chatter with Litton goes viral: ‘Mujhe kyu maar re ho’

India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant was once again seen being involved in a stump mic chatter with his Bangladesh counterpart Litton Das on Day 1 of the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Notably, Pant walked in to bat with India reeling at 34/3 to join Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease after Hasan Mahmud ran through their top order.
The southpaw began the innings on a positive note scoring a couple of boundaries in his first 15 deliveries. During the 16th over of the innings, Pant tried to run a quick single on the third ball as Jaiswal played the ball towards gully. However, he was sent back by the opening batter and a throw at the stumps deflected his pads and went in the vacant area towards mid wicket.
Seeing no fielder close to the ball, Pant and Jaiswal ran a quick single. However, Litton was unhappy with Pant for claiming a single as the ball had deflected off his pads. The Bangladesh wicketkeeper batter questioned Pant and the India cricketer was quick to respond and quipped, “Usko bhi to dekho mere ko kyu maar re ho? (You see him, why is he hitting me)”.

Litton backed his fielder saying he will hit only seeing him out of his stumps “Wo to maarega hi na,” he was heard saying on the stump mic. “Main bhi to Bhaagunga (I will also run),” said Pant.
Pant and Jaiswal added 62 runs for the fourth wicket before eventually falling prey to Mahmud who made him poke at a delivery outside the off stump. As a result, Pant was dismissed for 39 (52) with the help of six fours.
Earlier, Mahmud started the proceedings by dismissing the India captain in his third over making him edge one to second slip. The right-arm seamer further got Gill strangled down the leg side in his fourth over. The 24-year-old further got the prized scalp of Virat Kohli making him chase a wide delivery on the off side which he edged straight to Litton Das in slips. Following Pant’s scalp his figures read 4/25 in 11 overs.
